The TICO PRO Spotter is backed by a 70 year old company that decided over 25 years ago to take a clean sheet of paper approach to design, engineer and build their own terminal tractor after years of operating other competitor’s brands of tractors.
This approach led to many innovative design features and components from a composite cab to the rear air operated bus type doors. These innovations were a direct result of manufacturers who were unable, unwilling or outright refused to incorporate certain requested options in to their existing designs.
TICO believes that the competition’s Achilles heel is that they only manufacture the tractors; they do not operate what they build so they have no appreciation or operational experience, once their product goes into real time service. Their inability to experience downtime as a result of a faulty design or inferior components leaves them vulnerable to customer dissatisfaction and in many cases, invites the customer to consider other alternatives or more customer centric solution providers. TICO is now that alternative solution provider. For the last 25 years TICO has manufactured terminal tractors but strictly for their own use.
TICO continuously improves the product through rigorous in service operations, in port applications from Texas through to Baltimore. With millions of hours of operational experience on thousands of tractors enables TICO to produce the lowest life cycle cost tractor in North America today. With the addition to the TICO team of Mr Frank Tubbert, former President and one of the three owners of Ottawa Truck to direct the retail distribution channel, TICO introduced the PRO SPOTTER at the IANA Intermodal show in November 2007 to the US domestic marketplace.
TICO of Canada was formed and a soft introduction at Truck World in Toronto in April 2008 gave Canada its first look at the new and innovative tractor. After the winter experience of 2008-2009 TICO of Canada decided to introduce the PRO SPOTTER to the Quebec market at ExpoCam during the month of April 2009 in Montreal and all in French.
